WSDC Ltd.
World Schools Debating Championship Ltd. is a registered organisation with Companies House UK. The organisation is run by an elected board of directors, and community involvement is critical through AGMs, mailing lists and consultations.
History
From the beginning, one of the principal missions of WSDC was to encourage debating throughout the world. The first World Schools Debate Championship gathered participants from only 6 countries, and it now hosts over 70 nations annually.
Charter
WSDC promotes free speech, encourages critical thinking and helps participants gain broad, multi-faceted knowledge cutting across several disciplines outside their usual academic subjects, increase their confidence and achieve excellence in debating.
Philosophy
Our philosophy is that regardless of the differences in languages, accents and experiences of debaters, the fundamentals of good debating remain the same. Team members express opinions, put forward viewpoints, listen to others and respond to their ideas. However expressed, good debating comes down to skills of preparation, argumentation, and presentation.
Tournaments
These days, WSDC is a yearly competition that regularly sees representatives from over 70 nations. WSDC Ltd. is committed to the expansion and increased diversity of the annual WSDC Championship. Tournaments have been held both online and in person in countries across the globe.
